One of the things I like about painting rocks, are the ones with a
design or pattern of texture were I can actually see the face or body of
the animal I want to paint.
Here are several of these rocks...
I was cleaning my boxes with files of small paintings called "Sailing" it's an unfinished 5" x 5" acrylic...I was unsatisfied with the colors and style I used. Thinking of tossing it out I decided to paint over the same scene using a limited palette and allowing some of the old color to come through. To my surprise I liked the outcome with quick strokes and muted colors.
We visited Paris this year and I wanted to feel what the artist of days of old felt while sitting out and painting a Parisian scene. I sat in the famous Park and saw this scene, so I did a tiny acrylic painting of it... now I can say I did a Plein Air painting in Paris!
The Eiffel Tower image is a small preliminary painting, just messing with the colors...don't know yet if I will paint it...
