Rocks with a design or pattern of texture

One of the things I like about painting rocks, are the ones with a design or pattern of texture were I can actually see the face or body of the animal I want to paint.

I went to Europe this year and stopped at my cousins in Germany, and gave her this small rock covered with her last 3 birds

Painting over a painting

I was cleaning my boxes with files of small paintings called "Sailing" it's an unfinished 5" x 5" acrylic...I was unsatisfied with the colors and style I used. Thinking of tossing it out I decided to paint over the same scene   using a limited palette and allowing some of the old color to come through.  To my surprise I liked the outcome with quick strokes and muted colors.
